I was only three in '69 but even as a 14 year old in 1980 I think that no matter the era, 14 seems to be the magic age, doesn't it? Even the failed experiments are so wicked cool.

That is very ingenious but I would wonder about the saddle. The wooden pegs might be supportive but I would care for a covering over them as getting entangled in the springs and such might be painful...
