I would like to do more of the randonee series in 2019. my long distance cycling so far has been mostly the California Triple Crown series of double centuries I would like to ride more brevets...

you can have a single speed that is not fixed gear. I am planning to convert my Trek 1000 to a single speed as a retirement project. of course I am keeping my other road bikes.

the road bike will be a much better option for rides 50 miles, and longer. You will have more positions to shift your hands. If you can, keep the hybrid for other rides!

I just pedal comfortably for a few miles. To meet club rides now it is fairly easy, as it is 6 or 7 miles (depending on which club) and is a 1% downhill.

I love my Selle Anatomica X. I had some sit bone issues on my last double, but that was the first time with this saddle.... and they were not as bad as with my previous saddle.

You can check out the California Triple Crown series. they have many doubles in SoCal. The Borrego and Oceanside doubles are the closest to San Diego. The Hemet DC is not that far away.
