They are decent quality, but usually one crash wonders. Hence the inexpensive price. I also find replacing cables to be not so easy with the Tektros, while leaving the housing in place.

Salmon pads do tend to feel a bit more mushy than the black ones, just a slightly different lever feel. Caveat; this is my experience on both calipers and cantilevers.
