I'd go with a Luna mid drive. I put one on my hybrid and it is pretty robust. Certainly enough to pull a trailer, which I may add this summer as well.

I have a Luna with a throttle. It's pretty robust. I don't use it but the engine has a lot of kick so I would imagine it would do pretty well.
