I tried cleaning my rims with a dremel/brass wheel and the glue got clogged up in the brass. Kept having to stop and pick it out until it finally got clogged up beyond repair. That was a fail.

No. It can remove paint if you leave it on I guess but I haven't even had that happen. It's really good to remove rim decals which I've done multiple times.

Spray some disc brake cleaner on the glue and let it sit for a minute before using the wire wheel. I also use that to clean the glue that gets on the brake tracks when mounting a new tire.

Ended up ordering the Vredestein Freccia Tricomp 23's. Bought three for $125. They have latex tubes but should be pretty supple and durable. Seems like a good everyday tire that isn't too heavy.
