This is how smart I should have been, 5 weeks ago, when I thought I was "recovered enough" from a flu... Cranked out some long, hard rides, set a few PB's for those routes... Then relapsed & ended...

Go see a PT. Your IT band issues could be symptomatic of other problems, like glute/hamstring tightness, lower back issues, SI joint, etc. The PT can determine the root cause and treat it.

The spoke magnet is a non-issue. You can pick up small, flat magnets at most hobby or hardware stores. Just tape onto spoke - I've been using them and they work fine.

I rode my CX carbon frame through all of last winter, including a couple of days that were in the -20 degree range. Rough roads, ruts, etc. No problems.
