Any guesses on the model? I know it's not a Prestige (I have an 89 Prestige). I also have an Ironman, but it doesn't have a 27.2mm seatpost.

Mine has a cartridge bottom bracket unlike anything else that I've seen. If yours has the same thing and it turns smoothly, I wouldn't bother replacing it.

Because the manufacturers use sloping top tubes so they don't have to make as many frame sizes. If you are just making 1 size and it probably won't even get ridden, why not go with a horizontal top...
