Looked at my Surlys again. One has a sticker...

Looked at my Surlys again. One has a sticker about the same size as the one in the picture (that appears to have been removed) that says “Made in Taiwan.” But the serial number is plainly stamped...

Looks like there used to be a sticker on the bottom bracket. Probably had a serial number on it. I don’t think Surly uses stickers. Both of my Surlys are stamped. Troll and World Troller.
