Fwiw, my Fuji Sportif came with a 9 speed drivetrain and a 10 speed cassette swapped on no problem with the stock RD. I'm running a 10 speed 11-36 cassette on the stock road Tiagra RD..

Even tho the PA side is rougher surface wise, I prefer it due to the better scenery of the river. I do it on 32c road tires or Knobbies with no issues.

They are 10 speed shifters and I run them in index mode. There is just an extra click all the way to the right. I've run them in friction once or twice but 99.9% of the time is in index mode.

It is a mid cage derailleur and the max sprocket that it can handle is a 34 so that's what I run. I was surprised myself. Usually you see a road derailleur with a 30 or 32 max..
