Well, I guess I should be more specific. I bought a bike from him and the Speedplay pedals were attached. He doesn't cycle anymore due to back problems. He threw in the XTR pedals as well.

The speedplay ones were attached to a bike I purchased, but I took them off at home in favour of regular pedals. The Shimano set, the guy included to sweeten the deal I suppose

It's not a frayed cable. I thought it might be a few months back and replace it, which did help but the issue is not fully resolved.

I ended up buying the Felt AR4. I got him down to 1000 instead of the initial 1300. I've also got 25mm tires installed and they fit fine....
