Shim the pedal to fit tight...Then JB weld it in.....It will hold BUT you have to get the pedal so it doesn't rock much first.

Or clean the rust out,fill with JB and recut threads.....JB works...

I have SKS on my 700 x 35 bike and Planet Bike on the 26 x 2 bike.....Both touring bikes.....Have no issues with either one.

Somethings got to give some or the vibrations will crack the mountings.
