The carrier/thinning agents in chain lube is what I've read will cause the chainstay protector to dull, most notable on the clear ones. If it's really an issue buy a Lizard Skins protector.

dykim90, If the rear is shifting okay, then then the RD cable is fine. While cutting the steerer tube to dump the spacers will improve aesthetics, spend some time in the saddle before you do.

chanmbers078, Good for you. The CAAD2 had a different tubeset than the CAAD 3 and 4 of the same time, primarily the downtube, IIRC.
