Well the StJ FSR Pro is the best (thats not carbon) but its also the most expencive. In your price range i think you need to look at the FSRxc (none stumpjumper) version.

I think you can lock it out but it has a blow off valve (think thats what its called). Something so that if you hit like a big rock or something it will open up. I think thats right.

Lesson Learned

Check your landing. There was this three foot drop to flat i was going to hit and it went great, felt nice in the air but then the landing came and it was like landing in flower (like bakers flower)...

Yeah, what mx_599 said. If you buy a f/s new you should pay over $1k or else the bike will weigh a lot and have crap conponents. If you spend $1k on a hardtail you will get a sick bike.
