I wear bibs, and subscribe to the 2 pair plan. Just plain works. No problems at all. 1 extra pair of bibs takes up very little room, with almost no weight.

all things being equal, I’d probably pick the Surly, just because of the brakes.

but I would take the one I enjoyed the best.

I just acquired a 84/85 Trek 720. It came with both front and rear racks, rear installed. Looking at the front, will my Ortlieb rollers work on these tiny top rails? They fast seem so small.

Either grouping will be fine. But I’ll vote for the Campy. Two reasons, first the triple, but the biggest reason would have to be the wheels. Those wheels with the Campy group are simply OUTSTANDING!
