The fenders are plastic. The P clamps work well...

The fenders are plastic. The P clamps work well except that the leather straps between the clamps and the frame swell and shrink with mosture so they need to be adjusted sometimes.

they are cheap plastic fenders kinda like these...

they are cheap plastic fenders kinda like these (http://www.ucycle.com/products/accessories/axiom-roadrunner-lx-fender). Since the steamroller frame doesn't have fender/rack mounts they are attached...

I have a hunch he's gonna say something like "oh, that's a belt i bought at a yard sale for $1." It seems like all the classy little details also revolve around clever thrift. I love it.
