I drove semi's for over 20 years and we were always taught to try to keep to the right as much as possible to avoid a car or bike from inching into that space between the curb and trailer.

well the deed is done. converted to 10 speed and it was fairly painless. used the crankset that was on the bike 6 speed and it works perfectly( Who Knew?). didn't have to cold set the rear dropouts...
