I've ridden in Thunderstorms when necessary. If possible I'll seek shelter, fast food, convenience stores, park ramadas, etc. A very few times shelter was in the lee of a brick wall.

The clerk at REI let me look thru his eclipse glasses.. Maybe 30%ish..

So far so good. As said above acclimation is key. I commute 4-5 days a week. Year round. 5mi to work. 5-7 mi back to the park n ride. On the weekends go for a longer rec ride.

Weekdays, I get up before 5, drive to a park n ride, start riding around 5:40. This morning it was 70-75°F. Getting a little over 100 in the afternoons. But the low humidity makes that easier.

As one who commutes year round in the Phx area that's my take too. I've been in the midwest in the summers. The humidity feels like it's sucking your vitality right out of you.
