That's exactly the plan. The image witht he slotted dropouts in the intermediate before the two bushes are welded into place. I should be able to get then +-1mm or so by using the existing dropouts...

You'd have to be very lucky to see them in Scotland. I've seen them in Iceland, but as others have said, just go north. Weather is the determining factor a lot of the time.
