i thought so too.
the cramps happen anywhere between miles 25 and 60. i've never suffered cramps off the bike (i.e. in my sleep or resting on the couch)

i found that using a tensioner doesn't give me the best "feel". it's as if the wheel needs to spool up where as a direct drive is more immediate.
