Plus, they stopped fluting the crankarms b/w 85 and 86 (iirc). So if the crankset is original, it's a pre '86 bike, unless for whatever reason it was built up with older parts.

As for the year, I would guess early 80's, but check the bottom of the bottom bracket shell for a serial number. There should be a letter at the beginning which will help date the bike.
