I was given medication for phantom pains that really took my head out of the loop as mentioned earlier. Grabbing and looking at the lost digits has been far more effective for me.

Thanks for posting this! I'm still recovering and haven't been guaranteed use of my left hand. No front brakes have honestly been my biggest fear in all of this.

Washing the mud off with water is better for the bike then leaving the mud on btw. Don't be afraid to dive that new bike of yours off into a mudhole.
