There's this belief here that Wal-Mart only sells sub $200 bikes. While I can't attest to the quality of them, a gander at their website reveals that they do sell some bikes in the $500 to $800...

Well, I don't actually count them, but if I walk down a heavy bike traffic street (and I do, regularly), usually up to 20 riders can go by within 10 minutes. For a 30-40 minute walk down that same...

I'm around the Toronto area fwiw. I'd say on a typical day I see about 1 out of every 75 male riders riding a mixte. Usually an older gent, though I've seen maybe 1 or 2 younger men riding a mixte...

Go into any used bike store and you'll find nothing but mixtes. They are slow sellers, and plentiful. There definitely is still something of a chauvinistic attitude towards them. And women cyclists...

Oh, I'm not saying it's a better alternative, speedwise, compared to a bike lane or the road. I just can't agree that having a bike and going slow and on a sidewalk is a waste. Look at those...

Not really a zombie thread. The original post was posted only a little over a month ago. So IMO this thread is still a fresh corpse. Not yet zombie.;)

So many people are so afraid of "looking uncool" that a lot of them end up not doing anything. Social acceptance is still a large part of our western society. Probably always will be. What's a pity...

I tend to believe an adult cyclist probably won't really know what their ideal bike will be just after riding 1 bike, let alone starting out. Every cyclist has an opinion of their own, but everyone...
