Katy trail in my opinion isnt long enough to be worth it. White Rock is a nice ride, depending on what times you go its hard to maneuver around the amount of people at times.

+1 on wheel tension. I am 290lbs and ride 32h on velocity chukkers on my fixed gear and hop on and off curbs when needed. Having my road wheels built with 105 and 36h chukker wheels cause i like them...

Regarding the wheels, im right under your weight and ride Velocity Chukker wheels(36H) with 28c tires with no problems. Even occasionally hopping off a curb isnt an issue and they have held true...
