Same. I generally end up cutting the hubs out and throwing the hubs in a box. Rims go out by the curb and metal scroungers find them within a day or two.

Generally, the stronger rider is in the front, stronger meaning more upper body which also generally means taller. Tandems require a little more effort to steer/handle in my experience.
