I can only offer high praise for the 6500 brakes. They are fantastic. Make sure you run them with good pads - R55C4 I think is what I have. Excellent performance.

Well, it's not completely together yet. I've had it set up as a 2x5, and a 3x7. The bike rides very nicely. The wire-bead 27x1 1/4 Continental Ultrasports are a smooth-riding low-cost tire.

I believe it's metric threading, M6 and relatively fine threading. Not sure of the exact size. If you have the bolt you can take it to a hardware store to check the thread size and pitch.
