I spent a small fortune on mine, it has a Nexus 8, SON dynamo hub, new wheels etc.

Despite this the Nexus 8 is noticeably slower than derailleur gears. I went out with a friend and normally we're...

So we've found the change!

Cranks - you can tell if they're hollow inside as they have flat backs instead of an in-cut pattern. Anything XT is hollow, majority of LX are or used to be. Deore used...

That's quite a saving! Seat looks someone uncomfortable though!

You are still using a shim rather than the 34.9mm post?

Next fit a Hollowtech 2 crank (with hollow arms). The BB on this foldy...

Agreed neither the NT or Garmin's TOPO maps have cycle routes, but the OSM routes don't offer perfect routing, the level of POI or post code searching. So for someone that has Garmin NT maps already...

Given they use the same hardware I can't see Garmin modifying the software "crippling" it for road use. I imagine the apparent difference is due to the 800/810 coming with NT maps and the Touring...

Works better how?

I have the 800 but it's faulted. I don't need any of the fancy ANT, lap timing stuff, just the basic "where am I map" and occasionally routing. I'm aware the Touring has a...

Garmin 800/810 vs Edge Touring Screen Readability

Hi,

The 800/810 has a transflective screen which is quite readable in sunlight. Can anyone confirm if the Edge Touring uses the same screen?

Cheers!

The original post I take it? yes it's heavy, especially when you factor in the steel seat bracket.

The one I linked to is half the weight but you need to make a shim. I bought one for £2 from...

They are both 132.5mm :)

The Nexus 8 has a bit wider range and one of those gears is a direct drive. Mainly though I got it for the Jtek bar end shifter support.

Has anyone had a unit do the following;

When powering on a screen comes up with "Unsupported power adapter". This is with no lead installed. The screen has an OK button but it won't click.

If I...

The hub is 100g lighter because it doesn't have the roller-brake feature. It's still the latest 7 speed design.

I've since fitted drops (which I can't live without) and subsequently moved to a...

Single was perfectly acceptable until spoke count went down. Even with your weight it would be very unlikely (IMO) to suffer any damage. More likely the frame will snap first. :foo:

The manual I had has generic like a "get started in cycling". Useless and I threw it.

Can't argue for the price and even with £100-200 of upgrades it's still better speced than a circa £1k bike.
