It does suck. The problem is it isn't normal rain, its a torrential downpour. I'm not going to ride in conditions like that due to visibility and cars not seeing me also. Hopefully tomorrow will work...

Definitely go clipless. I hated those toe clip pedals when I first got the bike and that's what it came with. They are a accident waiting to happen IMO.

I had no flat until i was checking the tire pressure and my dog knocked the pump over which caused the Presta valve to break off. I sure have had some bad luck with Presta valves this week lol.

I can only say that I have had no problems wearing gym shorts over cycling shorts. Don't doubt its more comfortable sans the gym shorts, but I feel more comfortable with them on.
