Maybe buy second set of wheels with 28-32mm road tires and use those when you want to do fast rides.

BB drop is probably 72mm if you pull the wheel all the way back in dropouts.

Objectively downtube friction shifters are much lighter and also simpler, so basically they are bomb proof. No need to charge batteries frequently wich would be a pain.

Road bikes with narrow tires i prefer steel, it give's more comfortable ride. Mtb's with wide tires aluminium, it makes bike little lighter.
