The prices have really gone up from the 2008 models until now. I bought a 2008 7.3 in 2008 for 569 +tax. The 7.2 is now 529. From what I know the biggest price jump happend from the 2008 to the 2009...

I have a 7.3 fx and the first two months I had it my speed was similar to yours. Forget the 7.9. Ride more and build up your speed. I'm now up to 30-40mph on downhill and 18-25mph on flat a little...

The less tread you have on the road the less friction you overcome. Your speed will increase and require less effort. A reduction of nearly 3/4 per inch per tire should yield a noticable difference.
