Problem rectified. Still don't know why it wasn't charging correctly on the first try...connections were all nice and snug. but...I had let it discharge almost all the way. That won't happen again.

Both replaced, one at a time, about a year apart. Started riding again at 6 weeks. No issues, except that I lean the bike over towards me to mount.

It definitely assisted in overall rehab.
