Maybe this seems odd, but my tektro 710 stop better than my other cross bike with bb7's. The solution to stopping the shudder and squeal was toe out. Different, but maybe worth a shot

I like it. But like you, I would probably tinker to no end trying to get it just right. Since you have a good phot, maybe photoshop some things to see what works best. And I agree, those sidewalls...

Maybe check out Singular bikes out of the UK. You can now get them here in the states. I really like the looks of the peregrine

Sierra Trading Post has Evolution SX in a 51 & 55 complete bike for under $1600. Don't know much about the bike but I just stumbled on it a minute ago

Also noticed that the geometry is pretty different for the new models as well. I'm on a 52 poprad and it equates better to the new 54 presidio
