I always stand at least part of the way when climbing hills of some length and find that standing and sitting alternately rests different muscles so I can keep going more easily.

I'm using a Miche Campy-compatible 10sp cassette...

I'm using a Miche Campy-compatible 10sp cassette with a 29 that works fine. Miche also makes one with a 30. I added a clone Roadlink for extra clearance and of course a new chain.

Try a straightened metal coat hanger..... Not ideal, but an alternative approach is to use cable clamps and run housing all the way from the brake lever to the caliper.

I bought them off Ebay just for the look for ~$25 each. I wanted all white and there wasn't a lot to choose from. That said I was quite satisfied with them.
