I ordered these (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bicycle-Pedal-Extenders-for-9-16-Inch-Crank-Left-and-Right-Spacers-Pair/221745679694) pedal extenders. I'll saw them in half and use the female sections as...

Is it possible the pedals could have course threads? I just assumed they all have fine threads because my cheap exercise bike with a one piece crank has fine threads.

Wrong nuts?

I ordered these pedals (http://store.bicycleman.com/collections/adaptive/products/plastic-adaptive-pedal) and nuts that would allow me to use the pedals with the crank shortener I made, but I think...

Shouldn't the tube with the foam around it be attached to the underside of the tubes it's attached to, rather than the top of them, to help prevent your head and neck from hitting the end of the...

The pedal pictured above, with the heal cup, is the answer. Whether my father can get into it by himself is secondary at this point. He needs something to hold his heal in place because he tends to...

Good to see there are options. Now I'm thinking of a strap that would work better for me too because it catches on the crank shortener that I made (see my left strap get caught in this...

My 1/2" drill bit comes in two days. Meanwhile I've been adding redundancy to the design. Aside from the "spacer" I'm confident I'll get it done. If I do the spacer I'll probably have to make a...

Yes. It's not really that bad. In fact, I think the problem is more in the shoes than the strap. But it bothers me a little that there's an inch of play so sometimes the strap ends up at least an...

That photo is basically what I have. I want a strap that's a little more rigid so the strap doesn't get pushed forward so much when you put your foot in. A wider strap that you can securely attach to...

Maybe I'll just make them slightly stiffer so they don't move so much toward the front of the peddle when he slips his foot in, and if they do, they'll spring back to the proper position easier. I...

Exercise bike pedal alternatives

My father can't lean over to adjust the straps on our recumbent exercise bike. He can't even lift his foot to the pedals, but that's another story. Assuming he can eventually get his foot up there by...

I wouldn't want it in a child's size for myself anyway. My father may need a drastically shortened crank. I'm willing to go only a little shorter. I'd rather just finish what I started. Also, I read...

OK, I understand precession. It's why there's reverse threading on the left pedal. I guess my way will speed that up and the nylon bushing wont protect the threads 100% but I think everyone's...

Pedal strength standards

I'm building a crank shortener for an elderly man and I wanted to use a bolt that's smaller than 1/2" with a nut so I won't wear out the threads in the crank. I'm having second thoughts about that....

Yes, I guess I'd just have to retighten the left one more often, but it wouldn't be worth buying them. I could also use any old single pedal and let them be mismatched. I'm not sure I want to do that.
