sourcing bicycles for shop

We mostly comb through CL and Goodwill, the goal is to get as many different types of bicycles to expose mechanics to the wonderful, myriad forms of brakes, bearings, wheels, shifters, etc.

All spokes must be the same tension?

Disclaimer: All my experience with wheel building is with used rims, sometimes with used rims, spikes and nipples. I’ve never laced a rim to race, always for city use.

I would clean out as much grease from the upper pressed race. maybe get the bearings out, breaking the cage, for good measure.

use a vice to hold the stem, support the rear triangle on a saw horse...

Servicing Shimano ST-6500
