Thankfully never happened. Day 1 I always had saddle bag with 2 spare tubes and extra quick links for chain. I have had chain snap before so was really happy to have extra quick links.

I don't recommend it. And if you got multiple bikes and do lot of service work etc, don't buy the cheap ones....
