So I took my new 1000 lumens (non-flashing) light for a spin tonight and rode in an unlit area after dark. The light is very effective at lighting up the pathway.

I respectfully disagree with this statement. Fixed lights tend to blend in to the environment and could be mistaken for a street light or shop light. Flashing lights can been noticed a long distance...
