Have you tried moving the lever you closed it with? Try moving it around with the reflector. I'm surprised there's no keyhole.

Only Libertas I know of was a Belgian company, so who knows if it's that or not.

I'd relegate it to wall art, personally. Just clean it off, and get some nice looking, or very subtle, hooks. It'll cost a lot to fix it, and it likely won't look the same afterwards.

Whatever is off about it is effictively making it low trail. I can't see it well enough to tell if the trail is bordering on positive (bad) but low or positive trail will make a bike very twitchy...

I got a brand new Shimano Ultegra seatpost (SH-6600) for $36 shipped. Considering they for roughly $100 + shipping, I think I did pretty darn good
