The hubs are KT Quando flip-flop hubs according to specs. They look aluminum and not stamped steel. Looks ok. Its cheap but I don't think its falls into the "junk" category.

Top tube mounted also here. Its a great pump with the bar style gauge and telescoping hose. I use it every time I ride as I have latex tubes! Over 2 years pumping and still going.

I don't run "thick" tires anymore. All the thin one's cut the same on the rear tire. I have a 2.2 thin slick on a mountain bike. Being larger, it has 2x the amount of cuts a 23mm road bike gets.

I'm more interested in the efficiency rather then top speed. My best in a tailwind was around 34mph. Without the tailwind, I'll be lucky to hit 32mph. But a few watts saved with the fairings here...
