I fell into this trap earlier in my racing life. Don't get too caught up in team stuff. As a racer you should be able to go to a new-to-you venue/course/race with zero teammates and still race...

First, when under duress, you lose fine motor control. This is why law enforcement uses such high trigger springs, vs the competition ones. This avoids accidental discharges in tense situations.
