Thank you and it’s an 80’s ATAX stem I found on EBay for $40. I was thinking about sanding down a 3TTT stem as well but thumbs were already blistering up from sanding and polishing the crank set.

I used sandpaper that I got from the auto parts store. I worked my way up from 180 grit to 320, 600, 2000 (wet sanding), and finally 3000. I would probably include a 1000 grit in there as well.

I sanded them down with paper sand. Started with 320 > 600 > 2000 (dry and wet) > 3000 (wet)

Then I buffed them out with a buffing kit from Amazon that I attached to a hand held...
