The mount is indeed different but the 500 mount is awesome. Very easy to put on and take off- o-ring style. No worries.
That said the 500 has only been on my bike a few times. The 500 latest firmware upgrade now has training so really the only feature that isn't on the 500 is the maps. I don't use the maps often.
