I like the Confluence park idea as well. You can take the Platte river trail to the clear creek trail which will take you all the way to 52nd and Sheridan approx. From here you can jump on the Ralston creek trail and either head to Arvada and the Westwoods golf course and beyond or into Golden. Golden being the more challenging of the two options.
