My fault for not thoroughly checking the tires, but I was off the bike for 2 months + due to an injury, so I got 'lazy' re: checking tires for wear. Now I have a blue Vredestein tire on the front, and a red panaracer on the back... on a yellow bike

+1 You are going to get more flats if you run them down to the threads. I was not present but there was a bad accident on a group ride where the guy had a rear blowout from running worn tires and he ended up under an SUV coming the opposite way.
Safety is the most important thing.
