If you suck as a team leader and don't win, you don't attract the best riders to help you continue to win. Or you become the Washington Redskins, for many years dumping bags of money on over the hill free agents and at the end of the day you have a huge payroll and you still are a loser.

Trust me on this...everyone knew what was going on, eyes wide open, when they arrived (because it was going on with whatever team they were on previously). But the paycheck trumped the risk. To think otherwise is a total joke.

Ironic how guys like Heras tried to go it alone as a leader, got out from under the program they were on and got busted.

Regardless of the methods, Armstrong was able to get the best guys because they knew they had hitched their wagon to a winner. Remember Tour #5?
