Yeah I'd love to run into a 970 or 990 from this era. One thing I really love about these lugged models is you can really see the work that went into the design and execution of them. Whereas I think a lot of companies back then simply had Giant crank out generic models for them - most being exactly the same except for paint and graphics, Trek really put their heart into their bikes. My 950 rides like a road bike in many ways imo - very fast climber and comfortable ride, with zero bottom bracket flex and great delivery of the rider's power.
