I keep my 'tub' of grease sealed and only open it to replentish my small grease gun (do a google search). I do all that is reasonable to keep the grease CLEAN, sorry, didn't mean to YELL ;o)
Indeed. Even the best grease becomes worthless if contaminated. I use a grease gun to keep it clean (less waste with the grease gun as well):
