Strava's "threshold" HR zone is a range that is mostly below threshold. For me, my LTHR is right around the the high number that Strava lists as the upper end of that zone. Therefore, when I ride a TT, I will be in zone 4 for around 97-98% of my time. Riding over that, in Strava's zone 5 is indeed very hard. If the ride felt very hard, that makes sense.

If the ride did not feel that hard, there could be other factors- LTHR is set wrong, dehydration, heat, adrenaline. My first TT I ever rode, I was in zone 5 for 48% of my ride. I was full of adrenaline, I guess. I won a 2nd place ribbon and was hooked.
