I had my annual vision appointment last month and found that I have an early-stage cataract in one eye, nothing to do about it at this point, but it's good to know that having it fixed can be a big improvement rather than just maintaining the status quo. It was also cool to read "...as I am wont to do..."; your students would probably be unfamiliar with that expression.
