Some people do seem to be excessively interested in dividing people into ”us” and ”them”.
With ”them” obviously being inferior to whatever degree dictated by the whim of the guy doing the dividing.

Admittedly, I do some too.
During any kind of pack ride, My main sorting condition is ”those who ride sensibly” and ”those who ride dangerously”.
Next is simply speed and stamina. People get sorted into ”faster”, ”even”, ”slower”.
If it’s an organized ride, I might add ”people worth talking/listening to” and ”people best avoided”.
But rating people by the type of bike they ride - as long as it’s reasonably suitable for the type of riding they do - I don’t see the point.
