I played the trumpet in grades 7-10. Switched to sousaphone & tuba in grade 11, with a brief flirtation with the euphonium in small ensembles. I miss it sometimes. Now I just have guitars and basses that don't get played enough. Sad!



I think there are a lot of us that follow this thread regularly because they enjoy being around the conversation, but feel they neither have much content nor desire to contribute. Or maybe that's just me.

I played the bass and sousaphone, as well. In junior high, I signed up for a band class that I thought was a beginning class, and come to find out, it wasn't. Teacher asked me to make the noise with my lips that one does with a large brass mouthpiece, I could, and a star was born.... It was cool, because I progressed/regressed down to playing the baritone, trombone and trumpet, but never mastered the french horn. Weird thing indeed.
